Don't hesitate
Great case in all respects. I wanted max protection and didn't care about added size or weight. This case was the answer. Shortly after I bought an Otterbox case for my wife's IPhone. This will be my case of choice for all future phones.

Flimsy Holster
The case itself it great protection. But the holster is flimsy and not very strong. It breaks after about 4 months of normal use. You are unable to purchase it separately for the Bold 9700, therefore if it braks, you have to buy a whole new case with holster. I find this fact unacceptable and for this reson I would be careful if you purchase this product.

Don't settle for this! They need to redesign!
I loved my otterbox for the 8310 but for the Bold 9700, not so good!

The clips on the holster broke but I got a replacement at no charge. Days later, the knobs on the case broke where it clips in to the holster. I trashed it and now in the hunt for something else. Otterbox needs to protect its market share with a better design than this.

Not bad for the price
Saved some cash by buying this Otterbox Defender case for BlackBerry 9700 on Amazon...

I assume that for average use, this Defender case is sufficient for most people. Maybe I'm a bit hard on my phone.

Due to some unavoidable product flaws, this can't be considered more than splash proof. Within a few weeks of owning it, I dunked it in a river when I tipped a canoe. Since the 9700 has an optical key, you can't completely shield the keyboard. Water or dirt can easily get in around the keypad cover.

Also, I dropped the phone from about waist high and the shock was enough to cause the phone to go wonky for a bit. I thought the case was supposed to be sufficient for such a shock?

Armor
The Case is incredible. The phone is absolutely safe and secure in the case. My wife elected to not use the clear screen and button protecter due to the lack of tactile feel and how it made the screen not as attractive. I would recommend using it, especially if you are around dust (ballfields), and moisture (sweat from your head). My only complaints are that due to the ridge on the case I find it is a cumbersome to type the keys to the left of the pad. I also believe it dampens some of the sounds coming from the phone. The retailer had the phone as advertised no complaints.
