Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier

Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier

Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier
Binding: Kitchen
Manufacturer: Honeywell
Product Description:
True HEPA filter removes 99.97% of all airborne particlesfrom the air passing through the filter such as pollen, cat dander, household dust, tobacco some & mold spores
Amazon.com Review:
This portable air cleaner is recommended for filtering the air in a closed room as large as 168 square feet (12 by 14 feet). As it continuously circulates a room's air--about six times per hour--it employs two filters to remove smoke, pollen, dust, animal dander, dust mites, molds, bacteria, viruses, and odors. Especially useful for asthmatics and allergy sufferers, the cleaner contains a true HEPA filter that is at least 99.97 percent effective at trapping extremely tiny particles (as small as 0.3 microns) while a prefilter reduces odors. Honeywell's IntelliCheck system permits monitoring the filters' lives. Each filter has a button. Pressing a button activates a light, which blinks or shines steadily. One blink indicates that the filter has lots of life remaining, two blinks means less life, three blinks means even less, and a steady light indicates the filter needs changing. The HEPA filter lasts one to three years; the prefilter, three months. Filter replacement is simple, and replacement filters can be ordered separately. The air cleaner has three speeds, and all are exceptionally quiet for an air cleaner this large and powerful. It carries a five-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Pretty darn good filtration device
I don't suffer from allergies, so I can't say for sure that my HEALTH has improved since owning this device. But, I have to admit that the AIR seems clearer, cleaner. And, the UNIT certainly cycles the air around, so it kinda acts like a FAN as well. I havent removed the filter yet to see how much actual dirt and dust the unit has removed, but I really do like putting the unit in my bedroom at night when I am going to sleep. I seem to breathe easier and the AIR seems fresher. The price was pretty darn good. And, the permanent HEPA filter is good, so you dont have to replace that part. I thought this unit would filter out SMOKE smell, it does remove it a bit, but, I guess u need a unit with a DeIonizer to remove smoke smell.

Practical and affordable air purification
Man, the air purification business seems to be filled with so much hype and questionable technology.

I decided to go with a brand with a long track record and a reasonable price. My thinking is, 5 spread out over 5 years is around a month (plus periodic pre-filter changes) and a lot less than allergy medicines that treat the symptoms, but don't address the cause.

Another factor was the maintenance cost and long term availability of filters. A lot of competitors' filters are rather pricey, often or more. Some manufacturers' filters are no longer in production or available even though the air purifiers are still for sale.

So how is the in home experience? About what I expected. Not exactly quiet. Most air purifiers are going to make some noise moving a lot of air. And the noise will be proportional to the amount of air being moved.

I seem to have less sinus congestion. I experienced what might have been a placebo effect, having some of the most restful nights of sleep in years. Sadly, that hasn't lasted. Not sure why.

Overall build quality is pretty good. As others have noted, the motor and fan are somewhat out of balance and I expect that to shorten its lifespan a little. This is my biggest concern. Minus a star for this.

A little skeptical of the IntelliCheck system, it's probably just a timer that guestimates when to change filters. I'm not keen about having to cut pre-filters and apparently need to be careful I don't end up buying third party equivalents

Didn't help my allergies
This unit seems to work fine and is pretty quiet on low speed. Unfortunately, there was no improvement in my hay fever allergies when this purifier was used on low speed setting, even in my small office at work. Perhaps the air turnover rate was insufficient, or my allergies are just too sensitive.

Honeywell 17000 Permanent Pure HEPA QuietCare Air Purifier
Works well, a little noisy, but you get used to it after awhile. I really like the permanent filters. We have 3 dogs, and it captures a lot of dog dander and fur. We now own 3 of them.

Nice and quiet
Bought this unit because it's smaller and quieter than other purifiers. Been pleased so far. Nice and quiet on low setting.

Not Just a Phone, It's a Lifeline from Amazon and Sprint
I'll admit I was afraid to buy something so complicated looking. All the reviews and Sprint product info made me want to try it. Easy to learn and fun to use. You can check email, send email, browse the internet and keep up with everything you would have to go to your computer for when you don't have the time. The Sprint service is always available and never fails you. The still camera and video are an unexpected plus. The quality of the pictures and the ease of working with the pictures and film is simple and fun too. Battery life ok, keyboard it great, but the touch screen is awesome.

Good Smartphone
I have used many smartphones, Palm Pre, Blackberry Tour 9630, HTC Hero, HTC Touch Pro, Samsung Instinct, Blackberry Curve 8330, and the Palm Treo 755p. Each phone is unique in each way, the samsung moment isn't for everyone, but it is a good phone. When I got the phone first I was greatly concerned about battery life, WIFI really uses alot of power, but if you are concerned about battery life get the other new Samsung Android phone which has REV O, which uses less power, and gives better battery life. The moment is for people who are tech savvy, and really have the time to understand and play around with their phone. It is not for people who want something that works out of the box, the Palm Pre / Pixi best suits those people. If you want something reliable, the blackberry is the best bet, but has less features. The reason I gave this phone a 4 was since Sprint will no longer support with it with future updates after 2.1, even though the hardware can handle it. The phone is well built, and can last two years, and if your into programming you can get the latest updates from the tech forums. This phone is actually better than the Motorola droid on Verizon, which gets more hype because Verizon can charge an arm and leg for their service.

Way to underpowered, buggy hardware
I decided it was time to get a cell phone after finally fulfilling my contract with a VOIP carrier. I initially chose the Moment thinking it was a good midrange phone, with more then enough features for me. I never wanted a phone that could make the bed and start my car for me, just one that could make calls and have a few useful apps.
The phone itself is just underpowered plain and simple. The hardware was never meant to run android and it shows. The phone is very unresponsive, irritatingly so. It also has a few known issues, the phone constantly locks up in data mode, and gets stuck in airplane mode. The touchscreen looks nice but doesn't always register touch, Im not sure if this is because of the laggy processor or the screen.
Furthermore, this phone is discontinued @ sprint. It no longer will be receiving any other software updates ans had been replaced by the even sadder samsung instinct. If you want an android phone on sprint you only have one choice, and that is the Evo4 which I now own. Amazing phone (but thats a different review).

Great phone - However Sprint will not update Moment to froyo - I would advise waiting until next round (Intercept or Epic)
Just a quick note that if you are thinking about purchasing the Moment: I would advise that you wait until July 12th when the Samsung Intercept is released (or later when the Samsung 4G Epic becomes available). The reason is that Sprint has announced that the Moment will not receive Froyo. This means that this phone will not have wifi teethering (without using apps or rooting the phone) or Flash (or any new features in froyo).

If these features are not important to you then the Moment is a great phone. I have been happy with my phone. I am not however happy about how my five month phone is already not being updated to the newest version of Android. (I guess the Droid phones will end up like early 90's computers; you have to jump in at some point - only to watch your purchase become obsolete within a year).

Check out SDX Forums for the Latest and Greatest for Moment
You guys need to check out sdx forums - it has alot of custom roms for the moment.

Including their own JIT compiler (announced for Android version of Froyo) which make the phone 2-5X as fast

I own this phone and i'm 100% satisfied with it.

Great smartphone
First off, I am not a business user. And this is my first smartphone. I say that because it proves you do not have to be an expert in complicated devices to enjoy this phone. But don't expect to just turn it on and be on your way. You do have to spend some time looking around and figuring out how things work. The size of the Touch Pro2 might be a little daunting at first, but if you give yourself time you will get used to it.

I am also a mac user. This is not as problematic as I expected. Transferring files and programs via bluetooth is simple. The only issue is backing up my data. Right now I hope my SD card will be sufficient. There are programs you can purchase to do this, but I don't think it's fair that I have to pay for a service that Windows pc users can take for granted.

**Edit: I recently found Microsoft MyPhone, which is a site where you can back up your Windows Mobile phone online regardless of whether you use a Mac or PC.

The screen is beautiful and very responsive for a resistive touchscreen. The keyboard is fantastic-- big and backlit with easy access to symbols. I admit I am not the person who is on their cell phone 24/7, so battery life has not been a problem for me yet. For me it would last probably two days on a charge, but it doesn't matter because I make a habit of charging it every night.

**UPDATE: I've had 6.5 installed for about 2 hours now, and I must say it is like night and day. Every complaint I had about 6.1 has been taken care of. Facebook syncing works great, and it is no longer too easy to activate the camera. And the new Sense interface is gorgeous. It's just like a smaller version of the HD2, without multi-touch. I just wish it had a gmail app.

Perfect!
Just got this phone with the upgraded 6.5 Windows Mobile and I just love it! It is a big chunky phone but acts like little computer! the ROM is just beautiful and there is HTC Sense 2.5 on it! It detects your location and gives you up-to-the-minute graphic visuals of your weather conditions as the main screen background! I can't stop playing with all the features...never been so happy with a cell phone before! Well worth the price!

sprint htc touch pro 2
best windows mobile experience on earth, its a grown up phone, it act as an actally pc,plus you can save apps on sd card, good job htc.but its not as easy as an iphone or android, you actually need a brain to use this phone.

Sharp Blu-Ray BDHP210U
I purchased this unit and I returned it a week later. Problems reading disks, pixelating freezing and a coup;le of times had to hard shut down the unit. I updated the firmware, and cleaned discs several times and in the end I was cleaning disks before starting them the first time. "The Bourne Ultimatum" I stared four time and cleaned the disc each time after cleaning before starting the first time. This was the last straw and I returned it for a Panisonic DMP-BD65K and the disc played all the way through without ANY problems what so ever. The Sharp had picture distortion from time to time throughout every disc I played of some sort. I am now very Happy with my Panisonic DMP-BD65K. Much quicker start and far superior playback quality.

This really does suck..
Here I am renting a movie, I had my kids return it cause my updates just vanished.. I have had the blue-ray for about three months now.. I upgraded to watch avatar. Cant find the webside to update the crazy blue-ray.. I will never buy sharp again.. I understand that sometimes you need to update but this is insane. Hell my sister bought her a cheap blue-ray from wal-mart.. And here I am searching for a website and not able to enjoy my movie, again.. As I can tell by searching tonight I am not the only one that is having this problem.. SO BEWARE!!!

PS if you know where to find the website let me know.. Cause I cant remember where it is and someone erased it from my jump drive..

No problems. never upgraded firmware
I bought this in Jan 10 and to date it has performed well. I read the manual and found one of the settings that speed up the start up and gets the dvd to play the movie within 10 sec. I am not sure what is the problem others are experiencing, but you have to consider the technical demands on a technology that requires a lot more of bandwidth and processing power. I will try upgrading the firmware later on. Just today connected it to a HDTV (Sharp LC-46SE94U) and the Aquos link used on sharp products automatically recognized the BD input and labelled it with the unit's model number. Later when I placed a dvd on the unit the TV turned on automatically and switched to the dvd input, saving me a few seconds on the process.

Best Blue Ray player
Recently purchased this Blue Ray player to go with my 52" Sharp LCD. Incredible picture quality.
I highly recommend this product to anyone who demands product quality and at a great price.

Good blu-ray player
I have an Aquos LCD tv and like the Aquos link feature that automatically turns on the tv and switches the input when I turn on the player (or turns it all off when I turn off the player - since I don't have a universal remote). I haven't had any technical problems and it's loaded all the blu-rays I've thrown at it. Got this a great price. I would recommend, especially if you have a Sharp tv.
